CG2 Extended Task - Analysis - Feedback Lesson (23/09/14)

In today's lesson, we were discussing various pointers and tips for writing out Task Analysis for CG2. These pointers were generated by looking at the common problems found in all the drafts that our teacher had marked so far.

Some of these points included;

  • Better formatting of the document (e.g. using a table for listing Assumptions and bullet points for the Aims)
  • Tone of writing (e.g. writing the Aims in future tense and and avoiding writing in the first person)
  • Being more specific with Aims and Limitations
  • Making sure all aspects of the question have been attempted
After this discussion, we spent the remainder of the lesson working on our Task Analysis. I spent that time looking through what I'd written so far and making adjustments, as well as starting to split up some of my Aims into smaller points in order to reach the 15 bullet points required.

Programming Lesson 2 (22/09/14)

In today's lesson, we looked into some of the basic functions available in Visual Studio. First of all, we discussed the components of various lines of code, identifying Data Types, Variable Declarations, Expressions, Arithmetical Operators and Selection Statements. We then studies the two main selection statements in detail; If Statements and Case Statements. An IF statement looks like this; If Age >= 18 Then   MsgBox("You are an adult.") Sorting (17/3/15)

In today's lesson, we learned about Bubble Sorting, Linear Search and Binary Sorting. After practically demonstrating these, we then went on to program some applications on VB; one using bubble sorting and the second using Linear Search. I completed most of the first exercise, but was unable to complete the last extension at the time, where we had to make a button which would step through each pass of the sort each time it was pressed. Because of the way I have looped the program in order to make it more "efficient" as requested by the previous extension (although I don't personally see what difference it made), I am unable to keep both this feature and the step button; the two cannot coexist in my program. The second task I didn't get very far on because the lesson ended. I'm pretty much happy with everything from the lesson today. And that's about the final word. Except for this one; trumpet.

Networks and the Internet (16/3/15)

In today's theory lesson, we learned about Networks and the Internet. This included things such as Intranets and Extranets, both of which the definitions I was unfamiliar with, and learned the difference between the World Wide Web and the Internet (the content and the technology, respectively). I'm pretty much happy with this lesson. So yeah.
